Anniversaries

  • The Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, 1343 Lewis St., will celebrate the 13th pre-anniversary services for Pastor Rev. Dr. Lloyd Allan and first lady Rosa Hill at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Guest will be Pastor Vincent Coleman and the Bethlehem Baptist Church.
  • The Rev. James Jackson will celebrate his first pastoral anniversary Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and July 12 at Levi First Missionary Baptist Church, 5125 Church Drive, Rand. The schedule is: Wednesday, 7 p.m., The Rev. Vincent Coleman, choir and congregation of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church will be guests; 7 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. Lenorris Dixon, choir and congregation of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church will be guests; 7 p.m. Friday, a special concert featuring the First Baptist Church Choir, Angie Richardson, Crystal Richardson and the Rev. Donté Jackson as guests; July 12, 11 a.m., morning worship, featuring the Rev. Donté Jackson as guest preacher. The Rev. James D. Ealy will deliver the 3 p.m. July 12 anniversary sermon. The Rev. Ealy will be accompanied by his choir and congregation of Covenant Baptist Church. The anniversary dinner will be served at 1 p.m., July 12, following the worship service. 
  • Miscellaneous

  •   The Walk for Jesus Rally planned for July 11 at Shawnee Park in Dunbar has been canceled. The walk, sponsored by Temple of Faith Outreach Team, Temple of Faith Ministries in Cross Lanes, will be rescheduled at a later date.
  • Bethany Independent Freewill Baptist Church of Charleston will sponsor a golf tournament to benefit cancer patient Nathan Bryan on July 18 at Woodridge Plantation Golf Course, 301 Woodridge, Drive, Mineral Wells. Check-in is from 8 to 8:45 a.m. and tee-off is 9 a.m. Awards will be presented. The cost is $50 per person or $200 per team. Mail payments - made out to Bethany Freewill Baptist Church - along with captain name, players and phone number to Gary Shamblin, 169-A Cicerone Route, Sissonville WV 25320. If you do not have a team but would like to play, call Gary Shamblin at 304-988-0305.

  • The Homeland Southern Gospel Sing will be held at 7 p.m. July 10 at the Seventh Avenue Baptist Church, 240 Seventh Ave. W., Huntington. Everyone is welcome to come sing in the choir and enjoy an evening of Southern gospel music.
  • Journeymen will be in concert at 11 a.m. Sunday at The Church in the Valley, 1173 James River Turnpike, Milton. For information, call the Rev. Jim Dailey, Interim Pastor, at the church office at 304-743-4500
  • A benefit gospel sing will be held at 7 p.m. July 11 at New Life Center. The benefit is for Tyler Smith, a 12-year-old boy who was hit by a car and has brain damage. Smith is currently in Morgantown undergoing tests and therapy. For information, call 304-389-8827.
  • Spring Hill Awakening Community Choir will present its patriotic cantata in the afternoon today at Bethel Baptist Church, 5028 Kentucky St., Spring Hill. The free program begins with food at 12:30 p.m. and music will begin at 1:15 p.m.
  • Elaine Dawson will be singing at 6 p.m. Sunday during the evening service at Young's Memorial Methodist Church, Queen Shoals, Clendenin.
  • Courtney Perry and 96.1 Sunday Gospel Sunrise host Randy Gifford will have a song, praise and worship service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Giles Church of God of Prophecy, Cabin Creek Road.
  • Chelyan Church of the Nazarene will have a benefit gospel sing at 7 p.m. July 11 featuring Courtney Perry, The Royalmen Quartet and a special appearance by The Songsmen and Linda. Randy Gifford, 96.1 Sunday Gospel Sunrise host, will be MC. The sing will benefit the church's food pantry supply. Bring food items or make a cash donation if you wish.
  • Lucy Wilson Baptist Church, Elkview, will have Paul and Mary Nichols as guest singers for the 7 p.m. Monday night service.
  • The BrighterSide Quartet will sing at 1 p.m. today at an outdoor sing at Gauley Bridge. They will also sing at 7 p.m. Sunday at Waldeck Methodist Church in Weston.
