2 murder charges among indictments

Two Charleston men were charged with murder in separate cases included in the 117 indictments returned by the Kanawha County grand jury last week.

Russell Allen Miller, 45, of Charleston, allegedly beat Jason Scott Hensley during a scuffle in January. Miller allegedly held his arm across Hensley's neck until he passed out. Hensley died days later at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

John Douglas Mason, 45, is accused of cutting Charles W. Sears' throat after the two men reportedly argued over a spilled bottle of vodka in April. Police found Sears outside of an abandoned house in which the two men were apparently living.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt. It only means that the grand jury believes there is enough evidence of a crime to merit a jury trial.

Those charged by the grand jury will be arraigned in the Kanawha County Judicial Annex in downtown Charleston in front of the following judges at the following times:
