Charleston Newspapers will again be participating in annual drives to bring toys, food and clothing to the less fortunate in the community.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston Newspapers will again be participating in annual drives to bring toys, food and clothing to the less fortunate in the community.
Charleston Newspapers and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve will collect toys for Toys For Tots starting Monday through Dec. 4, ending at the Charleston Christmas Parade, which begins at 6 p.m. that Friday. Staff will walk alongside CN's decorated truck to collect toys along the parade route.
Families interested in finding out more about signing up for Toys for Tots can call the Capitol Resource Agency at 304-949-6077.
CN is teaming with the West Virginia Automobile and Truck Dealers Association for the annual food and coat drive.
Area residents are asked to donate warm coats and sweaters as well as food items. All donations will be distributed to local charities including Mountain Mission, Heart and Hand House, the Salvation Army and the Union Mission.
The drive starts Tuesday and will continue through Nov. 27.
Items may be dropped off at the Charleston Newspapers lobby at 1001 Virginia St. E. or at the following locations: Stephens Auto; Charleston Lincoln-Mercury; Bert Wolfe; Turnpike Ford; Turnpike Chevy; Freedom Homes; Sissonville Used Cars; Thornhill GM; Thornhill Ford Lincoln; Moses Ford; Moses Cadillac; Moses Outlet; C&O Motors; Pauley Motors; General Truck, Lester Raines; Joe Holland Chevrolet; Triad Engineering; Hurricane Chevy; Saturn of Charleston; Midway Ford; Larry Dawson; Paul White; White Dodge; and Royal Automotive.
