MATRIC, which is headquartered at the West Virginia Education and Technology Park in South Charleston, has partnered with DNP Green Technology. The firm recently announced its intent to build a $50 million dollar succinic acid biorefinery plant.
"MATRIC is very pleased to support the development of a key suite of bio-based technologies for DNP Green Technology, one of the fastest growing commercial bio-companies in the world," said Keith Pauley, MATRIC's president and CEO, in a prepared statement.
DNP Green Technology has signed an agreement with Mitsui & Co. to distribute succinic acid products in Asia.
"MATRIC has been an excellent collaborator with DNP Green Technology in the creation, testing, and engineering of our new bio-based line of products," said Jean-Francois Huc, DNP's president and CEO.
"We will be North America's first commercial venture to produce renewable succinic acid. Our initiative illustrates that bio-based chemicals are complementary to renewable fuels and a natural evolution for ethanol companies committed to reducing oil dependence, reversing climate change and creating green jobs."
