W.Va. ginseng hunter missing in Maryland
GRANTSVILLE, Md. -- Maryland Natural Resources Police say they are searching for a West Virginia man who became separated from companions while hunting ginseng.
Police say James Lewis Alt, 72, of Piedmont didn't return as agreed at 11 a.m. Saturday to the vehicle in which he had traveled. Alt, who is white, 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds, was last seen wearing a baseball cap, blue shirt and blue jeans.
Natural Resources Police say the search continued overnight, involving teams with dogs and horses. Police say due to the remote location and rough terrain, the public's help is not needed but anyone who saw anybody matching Alt's description in or near Savage River State Forest on Saturday or Sunday should contact police.
