'SOUL OF COAL': 2 p.m., Tamarack. Kansas City Chiefs running back Thomas Jones, the son of a coal miner, will be keynote speaker. The event focuses on the history and diversity of West Virginia coal mining, honors William "Rosie" Roosevelt Lynch and Joel "Jody" Price, two black miners who lost their lives in the Upper Big Branch Mine disaster. A soul-food-style luncheon, poetry and music will be featured. Tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for students and senior citizens. Proceeds benefit the Roosevelt Lynch Scholarship Fund. KANAWHA TRAIL CLUB HIKE: 1 p.m., Lake Stephens. Carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. The hike is approximately 4 1/2 miles. It is a loop hike with very small elevation changes in mostly forested areas.
