Anniversaries

The First Missionary Baptist Church of London will be celebrating its 105th church anniversary on Sunday. The Rev. Walter Leach, choir and congregation from St. Paul Baptist Temple, Beckley, will be guests at 3:30 p.m. Dinner will be served following the morning service.

Metropolitan Baptist Church will celebrate its 95th church anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday. Guest minister will be the Rev. Ricardo Flippin.

The City of Refuge Church, Nancy B. Jones, pastor, will celebrate its 10th church anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church, 11719 MacCorkle Ave. The Rev. Charles Gray from Zion Baptist Church in Parkersburg and Minister Judy Coleman from Park Forest, Ill., will be guests. The Vis'n Heirs will provide music, along with music, sign and dance ministries from City of Refuge.

Miscellaneous

The Nitro Church of Christ will have their annual backpack and clothing giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon on Aug. 14 at the church. A free lunch will also be provided. Children must be present to receive a backpack. The backpacks are fully loaded with school supplies.

Berea Seventh-day Adventist Church will have a church yard sale from 1 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 1 at 216 Highland Ave., South Charleston. Proceeds are going toward the Adventurers Club children's ministry.

Third Chapter After School Program at Westminster Church, 5502 Noyes Ave. in Kanawha City, is accepting registration for the upcoming school year. The program offers a safe environment, homework help, crafts, activities and more. For more information, call 304-925-5266 or 304-951-9495.

Berea Seventh-day Adventist Church will hold their Adventurer Club Children's Ministry this fall. Registration day is from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The program start date is from 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 22. The Adventurers Club is designed to teach a child how to develop a relationship with Christ, discover the world God created and implement biblical structure at an early age. The age group starts from four to nine years old. The club will meet on Sunday afternoons at Berea Seventh-day Adventist Church located at 216 Highland Ave., South Charleston. Women With Abundant Life, 1534 Washington St. E., will host My Sister's Closet, which is a boutique selling clothes, handbags, jewelry and other accessories at extremely low prices. First Lady Renea Crozier and the Women With Abundant Life, 1534 Washington St. E., will host an afternoon of encouragement and enlightenment with guest speaker West Virginia Delegate Meshea Poore to discuss "Becoming the Woman God Created You to Be" at 1 p.m. on July 31. Special music will be provided by Suzanne Sigmon. This event is free and open to women of all ages.

The Father's House Missionary Baptist Church, 500 29th St., will host a men's breakfast at 10 a.m. on Aug. 24 at the church.

Fraziers Bottom United Methodist Church, will sponsor its 27th annual Community Walk Against World Hunger at 1 p.m. Sunday. Participants will meet at the church to begin a two-mile walk. To obtain pledge sheets, sponsor a walk or for more information, call Jim Frazier at 304-937-3185.

Full Gospel Youth Ministries and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church will sponsor a free church camp, Sunday through Friday for ages 10-18 at Camp Towles in Grafton. Services are open to the public. Speakers and singers include The Lamberts From Durbin, Dave Arnold, the Rev. Ron Shamblin from Sissonville,  the Rev. Mike Richards from Boothsville, the Rev. Joey Campbell from Belle, the Rev. Josh Morgan, the Rev. James Saunders, David Bowen Family from Spencer, the Rev. The Gabriel Project of West Virginia's Metro Valley Chapter and Sarah's Catering will host a Pig Roast Fundraising Dinner from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 5 at St. Agnes Church, 4807 Staunton Ave. S.E. Tickets are $10 per ticket or three for $25. Live bluegrass music will be featured. Proceeds benefit the Metro Valley Gabriel Project for families with infants and young children in need of baby items, mentoring and referrals. Call 304-414-4666 for information.

Beatty will speak. Registration is $20. Pastor Beatty is founder and overseer of Pilgrims' Ministry of Deliverance, Georgetown, Del.

The Annual Conference Committee of St. Paul AME Church, 1108 Second Ave., will have a food sale and car wash from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the church. Food, drinks and desserts will be featured.

The Jay Humphreys Trio will be singing at 6 p.m. Sunday at Rumble Community Baptist Church.

Jesus and Me Production and Pleasant View United Methodist Church, Fisher Ridge, Kenna, will have a song and praise service to honor God and our troops at 7 p.m. on Sunday. The Believers Quartet from Sissonville will sing. Veterans and their families are invited as special guests.

The Believers will be singing at noon today during a benefit gospel sing for Jennifer Rollins at Grandview Baptist Church on Grandview Ridge near Red House. They will also sing at 7 pm. on Sunday at Pleasant View United Methodist Church on Fisher Ridge Road in Jackson County.

The Happy Valley Boys will sing at 7 p.m. today at South Ruffner Free Will Baptist Church.
