Six face meth lab charges in Cross Lanes
Advertiser

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Six people have been charged in connection with a methamphetamine lab and a wanted man.

On Wednesday, State Police Trooper L.W. Price got a tip that Drew Holstein, whom police say was involved with a meth lab, was inside a Cross Lanes trailer and was being picked up by a woman driving a white Mitsubishi Mirage with a green front license plate, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Price and State Police Cpl. K.E. Young went to Old Goff Mountain Road and pulled over the vehicle, but the only occupant was Ashley Lynn Keiffer, 25, of Poca, according to the complaint.

Officers searched the vehicle for weapons and allegedly found a glass pipe for smoking meth. Keiffer denied she had been with Holstein and said she had come from a friend's apartment, according to the complaint.

A female State Police officer searched Keiffer and allegedly found a small brown napkin containing meth in her bra.

Police then went to a residence on Kensington Lane in Cross Lanes, where Keiffer had been before being pulled over. When Price knocked on the door, a man asked who was there, according to the complaint.

When Price said "State Police," he heard movement inside the home. Both Price and Young continued to knock on the doors until two men left the residence. While the front door was open, Price could smell a strong chemical odor associated with making meth emanating from the residence, according to the complaint.

Several others in the residence were searched. Once a search warrant was obtained, a certified meth technician found components to make meth throughout the home, according to the complaint.

Earl Michael Myers, 30, of Cross Lanes; Barbara Leigh Akers, 33, of South Charleston; Brittany Danielle Asbury, 24, of South Charleston; Erin Renee Bays, 27, of St. Albans; and Desaray Dawn Pauley, 20, of Alum Creek, were all charged with felony conspiracy, possession of pseudoephedrine in an altered state and operating a clandestine meth lab.

They were all being held Thursday at South Central Regional Jail.

Once everyone was brought to the police station, two of the women said Keiffer had been at the residence earlier in the day with Holstein. Keiffer threatened both women. She was charged with obstructing a police officer, possession of a controlled substance, giving false information to the State Police, aiding or abetting and intimidation of and retaliation against witnesses. She was being held in South Central Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
