Advertiser

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Several buildings in Morgantown are coming down to make way for a $30 million student apartment complex in the city's Sunnyside section.

Preliminary plans for Beech View Place call for six levels above ground that could house up to 420 students, and a 350-space parking garage in two levels underground.

Demolition of several buildings along Beechurst Avenue began this week.

Morgantown chief code enforcement officer Mike Stone says demolition permits have been issued to the developers for some of the work. Asbestos must be removed from other buildings before demolition permits are issued.
