Ex-mayor returns stolen coins to Star City
Advertiser

STAR CITY, W.Va. -- The former mayor of Star City has returned nearly $1,400 in coins he's accused of stealing from the city's police department.

Tom Konchesky's defense attorney turned the coins over to the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department, which is handling the case to avoid conflicts of interest.

Star City Police Chief Vic Propst says the coins belonged to a man who recently died. They were being held at the police station until the man's relatives could be identified.

The coins were reclaimed by the family last week.

Konchesky is charged with felony larceny in the July 19 theft. He resigned Aug. 2 and is free on bond.
