Woman's body found in St. Albans house
ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- The body of a woman was found Sunday at an abandoned St. Albans home in what sheriff's deputies are investigating as a homicide.
Laura Amos, 35, was found at 217 W. Main St. about 5 p.m., according to Kanawha Sheriff Lieut. Bryan Stover. Stover said deputies are searching for Clayton Eugene "Gino" Rogers, a man witnesses say was with Amos earlier in the day.
According to witnesses, Rogers and Amos were celebrating Rogers' birthday on the front porch of the house. The two apparently had an argument and went back in the house earlier in the afternoon.
Later, another man climbed through the window of the house and found Amos dead "face up with blood all over the place," according to one witness.
Rogers has not been named as a suspect as of Sunday night, Stover said, though deputies are searching for him as a "person of interest".
Witnesses also said Amos was beaten to death. Deputies have not determined exactly what happened.
"It's clearly a homicide," Stover said.
Rogers is described as a man with a bald head and tattoos all over his body. Rogers also has devil horns tattooed above his eyebrows, Stover said.
Rogers and Amos apparently frequented the abandoned house.

"They're always around here, drinking all the time," Melinda Miller, a family member of the accused, said.
Other witnesses said Amos and Rogers, who were apparently in a relationship, fought with each other on several occasions.
"I've seen them fighting I don't know how many times," one witness said. "He's done so much stuff, he should be out of here."
