WVU Kanawha County Extension Service will have a committee meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Camp Virgil Tate Lodge basement.
Kanawha State Forest Foundation will sponsor a Margaret Denison Fall Nature Walk at 9 a.m. Sept. 11 at Kanawha State Forest. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. near the swimming pool. View wildflowers, fungi, birds, pond/aquatic life, trees and more. Bring your own camera for nature photography. There is an auto tour for limited ability walkers. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children. Barbecue will be for sale and drinks are free. For information, call 304-925-2771 or 304-558-3500.
CrossPoint Worship Center will host "Remembering 9/11," its annual memorial service of the World Trade Center tragedy, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11. The worship center is located off the Interstate 64 Winfield/Teays Valley exit at 118 Poplar Fork Road, Scott Depot. Guest speaker will be Bronx firefighter Carlos Vazquez, who will share his story and remember the 10 co-workers and 40 other friends who lost their lives on that day.
