City of Nitro will continue the Nitro Movie Night at 8 p.m. Saturday in front of the Nitro Municipal Pool. The film "Furry Vengeance" will be shown. Admission is free, along with drinks and popcorn. Taylor Books on Capitol Street will have a book signing from 2 to 4 p. m. Saturday by Charleston native Ellen Galinsky, a child education expert and co-founder of the Families and Work Institute. Galinsky will discuss and sign her newest book, "Mind in the Making: The Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs." The book looks at ways to reach parenting goals without the stress of unrealistic expectations.
Appalachian Reading Center will have a Fall Mum Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its location, 440 Third Ave., near Los Agaves Mexican Restaurant, South Charleston. Proceeds benefit scholarship students. Call 304-744-8188 for information.
Ronald McDonald House is selling entertainment coupon books as a fundraiser to help accommodate families of sick children who are being treated in area hospitals. The books are $25 and can be purchased at the House at 302 30th St., near CAMC Memorial Hospital, between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. For information, call 304-346-0279.
