Feds give state $5M to buy up foreclosed homes

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia is getting $5 million in federal funding to help cope with the housing crisis.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced the grant Wednesday. The agency says the grant will allow local governments to buy, redevelop or demolish foreclosed properties.

The agency awarded additional funds to other states for the same purpose.
