State fire marshal probes construction site blazes

WELCH, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Fire Marshal's Office is investigating suspicious fires at three construction sites in McDowell County that caused more than $1 million in damage.

 State Fire Marshal Sterling Lewis Jr. says in a news release that six pieces of heavy equipment were destroyed at sites in Valls Creek, Pageton and Skygusty. The fires occurred over the Labor Day weekend.

 Lewis says anyone who has information about the fires can call the West Virginia Arson Hotline at 1-800-233-3473. The line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

 There's a standing reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
