BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -- A Princeton contractor has been named to run for the House seat left vacant by the death of the late Delegate Thomas "Mike'' Porter.
Mercer County Republican Executive Committee Chairman Roman Stauffer says the committee chose Charles "Chuck'' Terry to run for the 25th District seat in the Nov. 2 election. Porter died Sept. 27.
On Thursday, Gov. Joe Manchin appointed Porter's son, Thomas "Mike'' Porter Jr., to serve the remaining months of his term.
Terry says he is surprised and honored by his nomination and he has a lot of campaigning to do in a short period.
