PINCH, W.Va. -- One man was arrested and another was hospitalized after an argument erupted in gunfire Tuesday morning in Pinch.

Kanawha County sheriff's deputies responded to the 10 a.m. call at the corner of Pinewood and South Pinch roads. They found the victim, Lucas Scott Burdette, 23, of Pinch, shot in the arm. The bullet went cleanly through, and Burdette was transported to CAMC General Hospital.

The suspect -- Corey Roush, 22, of Pinch -- called 911 to turn himself in shortly after the shooting.

He surrendered without incident at a house on nearby Willow Street.

He was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. A preliminary hearing will take place Jan. 12 at 1:30 p.m.

Chief Deputy Johnny Rutherford said Roush and Burdette are familiar with each other.

"Apparently, it was a chance encounter between two people who have a history," Rutherford said.
