SISSONVILLE, W.Va. -- A Charleston-area church group is loaning out prom dresses for free.
Ronda's Closet is located at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church near Sissonville. Organizer Julia Black tells the Charleston Daily Mail that 57 teenage girls have found prom gowns so far, with 200 more dresses still available.
The only requirement is that the dresses have to be returned so someone else can use them another year. All the gowns have been donated by individuals and dress shops.
Ronda's Closet opened in 2006 in memory of Charleston resident Ronda Jones Howard, who died of breast cancer in 2004 at age 44.
Ronda's closet is open each Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon.
