Artist Barrie Kaufman (right) and Carly Thaw put the finishing touches on one of the 10 murals being painted on the cylindrical columns that support Interstate 64 along both sides of West Washington Street. The Peer to Pier project is supported by the Sustainable Kanawha Valley Initiative and West Side Main Street.
Some artists have finished their murals; others have yet to start. Rob Cleland (far right) works on his from atop a scaffold. West Side Main Street will dedicate the murals -- all depicting scenes from Charleston's history -- during Octoberwest.
