A pumpkin packaged by Sherman Junior High School students drops from the launch board at Appalachian Power Park on Thursday. The pumpkin, which plunged 40 feet to the ground, did not survive.
Pumpkin drop judge Abraham Falsafi, a Bridgemont Community and Technical College professor, and student Jamie Criner measure all five surviving pumpkins packaged by Mountaineer Montessori School classes to make sure they qualify with a minimum diameter of 8 inches.
