CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputy M.P. Knapp inspects a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix pulled from the Elk River Wednesday. The car's owner reported it stolen Tuesday, said Kanawha County Sheriff Lt. Bryan Robbins. Deputies called for backup after spotting the car in the river just above the Mink Shoals exit. The Kanawha sheriff's dive team went into the river Wednesday afternoon to ensure no one was inside, Robbins said. The investigation is ongoing.
