Missing Raleigh County man found dead
FAIRDALE, W.Va. -- A man riding a 4-wheeler discovered a dead body Saturday, the body of a man reported missing since last month.
According to members of the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department, Frank Acord of Fairdale has been missing since February 12. The rider came across a body on an old strip road in the Fairdale area, police reported.
Deputies, along with members of a fire department and an ambulance service, responded to the call. In a press release, Raleigh County deputies stated Acord's body "may have been at this location for some time, so an immediate cause of death is not known."
They sent Acord's body to the state Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy. The investigation will continue, and deputies are calling the death of the 66-year-old Raleigh County man a homicide "until the exact cause of death is determined," the press release concludes.
