CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- St. Patrick's Day has always been an excuse for celebrating and perhaps raising a cup of good cheer.
This year you can do it in an organized fashion by joining the St. Patrick's East End Pub Crawl.
Organized by East End Main Street, the pub crawl will run from 6 to 10 p.m. March 17 at five East End establishments -- Bluegrass Kitchen, the Red Carpet Lounge, Tricky Fish, Little India Lounge and the Empty Glass Cafe.
The venues will offer food and drink specials, live entertainment and a chance to win prizes by playing the Shamrock Challenge, a digital geo-search game in which participants try to find 15 "strategically placed" shamrocks in the five locations and upload images of them onto a Facebook fan page.
A $15 registration fee includes a pub crawl T-shirt, access to the food and drink specials and entry to the Shamrock Challenge. Call the Main Street office at 304-767-9800 (there is a $1 service charge). You can also register at Bluegrass Kitchen (304-346-2871).
C&H Taxi will offer free rides home if needed through its Intoxi-Taxi program and will offer free shuttles downtown at the end of the evening.
Sponsors are Carte Zerbe & Associates, Bud Light Lime, C&H Taxi and the participating East End pubs.
