MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- FirstEnergy Corp. says it has reached a new contract agreement with the union that represents 137 employees of its Monongahela Power Co. subsidiary.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2357 has ratified the four-year contract. It's already in effect and will expire Feb. 29, 2016.

The State Journal said the IBEW represents linemen, substation electricians, meter readers and support personnel in Weirton, Morgantown, Kingwood, Clarksburg, Weston-Buckhannon and Webster Springs.

FirstEnergy's president of West Virginia operations, James Haney, said the deal lets the company focus on providing customers the reliable service they expect.

Mon Power serves nearly 390,000 customers.
