George Washington High School band members practice at the school this week. Earlier this month, the band was named West Virginia Honor Band by the state Music Educators Association. It is the seventh time the GW band has won the honor under director Mark Hardman, who has worked at the school for 15 years.

Senior Franklin Roberts and junior Katie Vandall are two of the 63 students who are part of GW's West Virginia Honor Band. Roberts said he is thrilled to have won the honor in his senior year. "It's a good way to have everything end."
