HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Huntington's new $40.9 million budget maintains city services without raising the user fee.
The budget for the 2013 fiscal year, approved Monday by City Council, also includes funding to hire six firefighters.
Mayor Kim Wolfe had proposed increasing the user fee from $3 a week to $5. He said the increase was the only way to maintain services.
The new budget reduces the city's health insurance costs for employees by $500,000. It also eliminates eight vacant public works positions.
