Work under way at Morgantown farmers market

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Construction is under way on a new covered outdoor pavilion for the Morgantown Market Place, the city's farmers' market.

Manager Lisa Lagana says the more than 30 vendors are thrilled that they and their customers will have some protection from the rain.

Construction plans also call for a rain garden, a donor wall and an outdoor kitchen for live cooking demonstrations.

The market is open every Saturday morning from May through October, and some winter weekends.

Lagana tells The Daily Athenaeum she hopes West Virginia University students will join the community in visiting the market.

She says it's not as expensive as they might think: Prices are comparable with Wal-Mart.
