Rahall to take part in national drug-abuse summit

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Rep. Nick J. Rahall, D-W.Va., plans to criticize the lack of strong federal legislation to control prescription drugs this week at a summit on the abuse of those drugs.

The Appalachian Regional Commission and Operation UNITE are co-sponsoring the National Summit on Prescription Drug Abuse in Orlando, Fla., to discuss the growing impact of prescription drug abuse throughout the nation.

Rep. Harold Rogers, R-Ky., founded UNITE in 2003. The group's name is an acronym for "Unlawful Narcotics Investigations, Treatment and Education."

Just another Free Press for reelection, "Look What I'm Planning For You"! The US Legislators just need to use a Pharmaceutical Data Base and then investigate the Highest Drug Purchasers to see who the culprits are! Is this too difficult for the US Lawmakers? Rahall's and Tomblin's regions are the worst in the state of WV, what have they ever done to curb this other than just talk about it! They want to make All of WV just like the region that they hail from....God Forbid! NO TOMBLIN AND NO RAHALL IN 2012!!

Truly, who cares? You want to do something good and exciting? Legalize marijuana.

It's disgusting that it is a Schedule I drug, the same as LSD and cocaine. Thanks Reagans.

While I do think he issue under discussion is serious...
I have to say this story just seems to read as Mr. Rahall taking a trip to Florida, and we as WVians should be happy he is doing so..
This org is founded by a Kentucky Rep, and is strongly supported by a WV Rep.. but we're gonna discuss these issues down in Florida..
Sorry, but it just seems like a fancy excuse for a beach trip.

Stop wasting time, effort, manpower ,and money on low level crimes such as possession of marijuana...use our tax dollars wisely.

There seems to be no care on how my dollars are speant. Less dollars from taxes would help.
