CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- One person was thrown from their vehicle Monday night in a three-vehicle accident in Cross Lanes, dispatchers said.

Six people were injured after the vehicles crashed near 5247 Big Tyler Road at about 8 p.m., according to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers.

Dispatchers weren't immediately sure what factors contributed to the crash. A nurse who lives nearby was the first one at the scene and began tending to the injured, dispatchers said.

Paramedics arrived a short time later and transported two people, including one who was ejected from a vehicle, to CAMC General Hospital. Dispatchers were unsure of the extent of the other four people's injuries.

A section of Big Tyler Road near Shelly Lane remained closed at 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Kanawha County sheriff's deputies were on the scene.
