ELKINS, W.Va. -- An inmate who admitted spitting on an officer at the Huttonsville Correctional Center has been sentenced to one year in prison.

Twenty-one-year-old Joseph Whitney Nomar was sentenced Wednesday in Randolph County Circuit Court on a charge of battery of a government official.

The term will run concurrent with Nomar's current sentence. The Inter-Mountain reports Nomar is eligible for parole in 2014 on a robbery charge.

Nomar has since been transferred to the Mount Olive Correctional Center.
