CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Outdoor gear retailer Cabela's Inc. plans to hire up to 250 employees for its Charleston store opening this summer.

Sidney, Neb.-based Cabela's said Thursday it will hold job interviews from April 23 through 28. Applications must be submitted online and are being accepted at www.cabelas.jobs.

"We are looking for candidates who have a passion for the outdoors and are excited to share that passion with other people," Matthew Leary, general manager of the new store, said in a prepared statement. "Cabela's employees should be friendly, outgoing, committed to working as a team and represent the outdoor lifestyle in a positive way."

Most of the employees are expected to come from Charleston and surrounding areas. The store typically attracts applicants with knowledge of the outdoors and outdoor sports with an aptitude for customer service, according to Cabela's statement.

The 80,000-square-foot store in the Southridge Center off U.S. 119 will be Cabela's second in West Virginia. Another store in Wheeling opened in 2004.
