Mason principal sued over alleged abuse
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Mason County principal apparently dragged a special-needs boy screaming from the seat of a school bus, rolled him down the bus steps and forced him to the pavement, according to video footage released as part of a federal lawsuit against the man and the county school board.
The lawsuit, filed by Melanie Plants on behalf of her son, Zachary, 11, comes two weeks after police arrested Point Pleasant Intermediate School Principal Cameron C. Moffett and charged him with felony child abuse in connection with the incident.

This type of educator behavior occurs more often than you THINK!!
Principle at my child's school chased him up a TREE!!! Special Needs Child in a TREE!!! what a shame.
um no...you didn't see the video in its entirety. Didn't you notice the cuts? Or the fact you don't see what led up to the boy being bumped into the aisle way?You don't get to hear/see the video/speakers from the back of the bus to learn what was said by the student, other kids, and/or the adults. You saw an edited version. There is a whole lot more to this story than will be made public. The parents and their lawyers will put out their side loudly. However, the school system is constrained by laws to discuss their side AT ALL due to privacy concerns of the student as well as the principal. You don't know what this child did. What has been his history.Who has been hurt in the past. What happened immediately prior to this. You don't know. Why can't people just sit on their fingers and wait?
As to the principal, I would think that there would have been a better way to handle the situation. Vacating the bus is entirely appropriate but he needed some help...calling the parents would have been ideal but would have ruined the field trip for everyone else.
Another example of why many teachers I know will no longer "do" field trips!
