Road near Turnpike reopened after dynamite found

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- State Police closed part of Cabin Creek Road for a short time Monday while a bomb squad removed a stick of dynamite along the roadway.

Police closed about 300 yards near the Chelyan exit around 2 p.m., said State Police dispatchers. Police discovered dynamite beneath the underpass along W.Va. 61 around noon.

A State Police bomb squad inspected the area and removed the dynamite, dispatchers said.

Police are trying to determine how the explosive ended up along the roadway.
