POWELLTON, W.Va. -- A Fayette County man was hospitalized after being stabbed Monday night.

Lon Fredrick Pettry, 45, of Kimberly, was stabbed several times in the chest and arm, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies found Pettry outside a residence in the Powellton area shortly after 9 p.m. Monday and took him to Montgomery General Hospital. He was then taken to CAMC General Hospital, where he was treated and released, according to a news release.

Police believe Michael Brian Christian, 46, of Mount Carbon, stabbed Pettry. Christian fled before deputies arrived, but turned himself in later Monday night. He has not been charged, but charges could be filed later today, according to the news release.

Fayette Sheriff Steve Kessler said the two men were apparently arguing. He did not know if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident.
