CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The parents of a 15-month-old girl found her unresponsive in a pond near their Cabin Creek home Monday evening, the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department reported.

Kadence Stout remained in the Intensive Care Unit at Women and Children's Hospital late Tuesday afternoon.

The Kanawha County Sheriff Department's investigation will be presented to the prosecutor's office, said Lt. Sean Crosier.

Danielle Stout and her husband were working in their Eskdale yard at about 8 p.m. when the toddler wandered away and out of their sight, Crosier said. They later found her in the pond and performed CPR on the girl.
