ELKINS, W.Va. -- Three people linked to the fatal shooting of a deputy U.S. marshal are scheduled for sentencing.

U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin will sentence Cassandra Smith, Sherry Lou White and Anthony Lambert in back-to-back proceedings that begin this morning in Elkins.

Prosecutors charged all three with lying to federal agents who were seeking fugitive Charles Smith.

Smith died in the February 2011 gun battle, along with marshal Derek Hotsinpiller. Two others were wounded.

Sherry Lou White was married to Smith. Cassandra is their daughter, and Lambert was Cassandra's boyfriend.

Charles Smith had been wanted on drug charges. After the shootout, investigators found 22 loaded weapons placed around his Elkins home. The windows had been covered with blankets to hide the occupants.

Each defendant faces as many as five years in prison.
