Two assessor candidates often miss tax deadlines, records show
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Two of the five candidates for the office of Kanawha County Assessor often miss a deadline in paying their real estate taxes, county tax records show.
Developer and contractor Forest Carper Sr. is one of two Republicans on the primary ballot next week. Carper owns townhouses and a rental home.
County tax records show that Carper was delinquent paying the taxes on the townhouse property in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Tax records show he was late paying the taxes on the rental home in 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Let's see, first there were questions about her unusually low assessment and now it appears that she couldn't be bothered to pay that in a timely manner.
I would really like to see a fresh face elected in order to try to clean up the many issues that seem to plague this office. I have not historically been one to get excited about politics but Robinson has stated that if she is elected, little will change. As a tax payer of Kanawha County, I want to see major changes in this office.
Since most people have their property financed, it is the responsibility of the lender to pay the taxes and insurance on time. That's why there is an escrow account. This article really doesn't say much about the candidates at all.
Since I am a registered Republican; there are only two choices for me. Forest Carper or John Jarman. Forest Carper is in the rental real estate business. The potential conflict of interest is too great for me to consider him seriously. Mr. Jarman is responsible according to this article and seems to truly enjoy serving the people of his community. He will get my vote.
Many lenders including mine do not force an escrow account for tax and insurance payment. My home is financed and it is my responsibility to pay my property taxes and insurance on time.
On your choice of candidate, I concur. I have researched all parties and I believe that Jarman is who I will be voting for. He has one plan in particular that I really like as it will force accountability.
Jarman is proposing that each field agent be responsible for the property in the area (district) that they cover. No one will be able to change an assessed value without that persons approval and it will have to be documented as to why. If an assessment is questioned, that area will have one point of contact in which to address concerns. From what I understand, he is into accountability which we have too little of at this point.

WELL MR.JD79795--------If that is all true why have the citizens of Kanawha county seen any positive results from Mr. John Luoni's "appointed" Kanawha county positions ????-----Do you not realize that John Luoni is a "career" appointed politician that answers to his master Kanawha Coubty Commissioner Kent Carper ??----
I highly suspect that you Mr. JD79795 have a vested interest in John Luoni being elected Kanawha County Assessor.
