Local businesses to be honored at awards ceremony

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston-based general construction company is set to be honored as this year's Small Business of the Year in West Virginia.

BrooAlexa is scheduled to be recognized at an awards luncheon on May 30 in Morgantown.

The company's chief executive officer and president also are being honored as the state's Small Business People of the Year at the 2012 West Virginia Small Business Week Awards Celebration. They also are in the running for the National Small Business Person of the Year, which will be announced on May 21 in Washington.

Sen. Jay Rockefeller and SBA Administrator Karen Mills are set to recognize the state's small business winners at the event.
