CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency will close the Logan County Disaster Recovery Center this week, officials have announced.

The center, located at 2270 Mud Fork Road, will close at noon Friday.

Since the center opened March 24, more than 650 people have visited to check the status of their FEMA applications, apply for Small Business Administration loans, or get information. The center offered help for the floods of March 15-31.

More than 760 residents in Lincoln, Logan and Mingo counties have registered for FEMA assistance as of May 1. More than $2.25 million has been approved to help applications with recovery efforts.

People can still register for federal assistance or damages sustained during the storms and floods of Feb. 29 through March 5 and the floods of March 15 through March 31.

Registration is available by calling 800-621-3362 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. Registration is also available online at www.disasterassistance.gov.

Deadlines for registering with FEMA are May 15 for those affected by the storms and floods of Feb. 29-March 5 and May 21 for those affected by the floods of March 15-31.
