CAMERON, W.Va. -- Chevron Corp. has temporarily shut down some natural gas wells in Marshall County so it can make safety improvements.

Chevron North America spokesman Trip Oliver says the company is performing maintenance, improving the operating systems' safety and reliability and enhancing the pad stability at some sites.

Oliver tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register that some wells recently resumed production. The others will be returned to production when the company is confident they can be operated safely.
