By Staff reports

WEST HAMLIN, W.Va. -- State Police in Lincoln County are searching for a man they said robbed a bank at gunpoint Tuesday.

A man with a handgun walked into City National Bank in West Hamlin at about 1 p.m. and demanded money, said West Virginia State Police dispatchers.

He then fled in an unknown direction before police arrived.

No one was injured and police are unsure if the man took money, Lincoln County 911 dispatchers said.

The man is about 5-feet, 6-inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black ski mask, police dispatchers said.

Guyan Valley Middle, West Hamlin Elementary, Lincoln County High School and Hamlin Elementary were locked down at about 1:15 p.m. as a precautionary measure, said Tina Black, a receptionist for Lincoln County Schools.

Dispatchers later advised school administrators to dismiss students at their regular times. Anyone with information about the man or his whereabouts is asked to call the State Police in Hamlin at 304-824-3101.
