MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- One of the busiest roads in Morgantown is getting a makeover.
WDTV-TV says crews should begin work on a widening project on the Mileground this summer.
As part of that project, the Division of Highways plans to add a roundabout to its intersection with W.Va. 705. The DOH hopes to have the roundabout finished by January, before the opening of a new school.
Drivers use the Mileground to get from Interstate 68 and local roads to West Virginia University's football stadium, Ruby Memorial Hospital, the Mylan Inc. pharmaceuticals laboratory and other destinations.
Monongalia County Planning Director Bill Austin says workers should be able to build the roundabout without much impact on traffic flow.
He says the plan is to finish the entire project by 2014.
