FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- A 31-year-old logger is dead after a tree fall in north-central West Virginia.

Marion County Sheriff Joe Carpenter has identified the victim as Terra Alta resident Jason Scot Wiles.

The accident happened Monday as Wiles and his co-workers were cutting trees near the Harter Hill area.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carpenter had few other details about the accident. He says it may be investigated by the state Division of Forestry and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Media outlets say Wiles worked for Backwoods Logging LLC of Terra Alta. There was no phone listing for a company by that name today.
