Boone Memorial Hospital will have a car wash from 2 to 8 p.m. in the front/right parking lot. Cost is $10 per car/truck (vehicles with four wheels or less) or a donation equivalent of $10 or more. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. This year's Relay for Life is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at Lick Creek field.
Charleston Police Department will facilitate a "Town Hall" style meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Stonewall Jackson Middle School Auditorium at 812 Park Ave. Residents who have concerns about local issues regarding the West Side are encouraged to attend to discuss those issues. Officers from the Community Services Division and Charleston City Council will be there.
Marmet Saturday Night Dance: will be held in conjunction with the Marmet Car and Bike Show. The car and bike show will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday with judging at 8 p.m. The concession stand will be open across the street at the recreation building. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and East Lynn Lake will host the 12th annual Kids' Fishing Tournament on Saturday at Lick Creek Pond. The tournament features four age categories for children ages 3 to 15. Sign-in begins at 8:45 a.m. and fishing goes from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Lick Creek Pond is off W.Va. 37, about 18 miles east of Wayne. Refreshments, lunch and prizes will be provided. Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, Preceptor Alpha Chapter will meet at 5:30 p.m. Saturday for its Spring Fling at Angela's on the River, 2 Sixth Ave., St. Albans. President Diane Domaschko will host the event. All members and guests are invited to the last function of the year.
Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Open House/Hot Dog and Barbecue Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Tyler Mountain Community Building adjacent to the fire station. The fire station will be open for tours. Bring children and cameras. The Junior Firefighters will sell baked goods. Proceeds will benefit the Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.
Richwood will have its "Richwood Past 80 Party" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Richwood High School. Residents who are 80 or older are invited. There will be entertainment, a Bible quiz and prizes. Keeping with the tradition of Christmas in June, guests will be served a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. They will be given a fruit basket and stocking filled with goodies from local businesses. Local and state politicians will serve the dinner to the guests.
