SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. -- A Nicholas County woman was killed Sunday after a tractor-trailer rear-ended the car she was riding in near Mount Nebo, police said.

A tractor-trailer driven by Foster Marsh, 76, of Glenville, rear-ended a 2007 Chevrolet truck driven by James D. Cogar, 52, of Summersville, along U.S. Route 19 at about 4 p.m., police said.

Cogar's passenger, Jean A. Cogar, 78, of Summersville, died in the crash, according to a news release issued by the Nicholas County Sheriff's Department. It was not immediately clear whether the Cogars are related.

Paramedics transported James Cogar to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Nicholas County Sheriff's Cpl. B.S. Tucker is investigating.
