RONCEVERTE, W.Va. -- Two Greenbrier County volunteer firefighters were injured Saturday after exiting a third-floor window of a burning house in Ronceverte.

Ronceverte Volunteer Fire Chief Casey Morgan said seven people were inside a house on Monroe Avenue when it caught fire at about 5 p.m.

Firefighters got the occupants out safely, but two firefighters became trapped on the third floor while battling the blaze.

The firefighters then exited a window and fell to the ground, Morgan said.

One of the men received burns to about 8 percent of his upper body and is in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va. The other man received 10 percent burns to his upper body and is in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Ronceverte.

"One man is projected to be released from the hospital [Tuesday]," Morgan said. "The other man, well, we just don't know yet."

Morgan has not released the names of the injured men. The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
