Accidents close both lanes of I-77 near Sissonville
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Both northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 77 near Sissonville were closed and diesel fuel spilled near the Yeager Bridge in Kanawha City Monday night as police responded to separate tractor-trailer accidents.
A tractor-trailer jackknifed and closed both southbound lanes of traffic near Sissonville, State Police dispatchers said.
Traffic was being diverted off exit ramps, but police advised drivers to stay clear of the area.
Also Monday evening, dispatchers said a tractor-trailer crashed through a guardrail along the West Virginia Turnpike, leaking diesel fuel into the roadway.
The tractor-trailer wrecked at about 8 p.m. near the Yeager Bridge in Kanawha City, said State Police dispatchers.
The driver was uninjured when the truck's cab came to a rest on the hillside.
Dispatchers said diesel fuel and debris spilled into the roadway, but was cleaned up an hour later.
Two other related accidents were reported on the Turnpike near Kanawha City Monday.
