CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A tractor-trailer driver sustained second-degree burns after the cab of his truck caught fire Wednesday along the West Virginia Turnpike near Chelyan.
State Police dispatchers said the cab caught fire about 3 p.m. in the southbound lane, near the Turnpike's first tollbooth.
Dispatchers are not sure how the blaze started. The driver was hauling steel coils and the truck bed did not catch fire.
Emergency crews completely extinguished the fire and paramedics took the driver to CAMC General Hospital.
One southbound lane was closed Wednesday afternoon, but opened later in the evening, a dispatcher said.
