Dog park ready to open in Huntington

Web Dateline: CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District and the Foundation for the Tri-State Community will celebrate the grand opening of Huntington's Petsafe Dog Park from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Events include contests, vendor booths, refreshments, silent auction and giveaways. A ribbon cutting ceremony to open the dog park will kick things off at 1 p.m. Mystic Mountain Blueberry will perform from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the Amphitheatre. Vendor booths will offer doggie treats, outfits, harness leashes and other pet-related supplies for sale. 

Refreshments for pooches and humans will be provided by Paula Vega Cakes and Beggin' 4 More. An Owner/Pooch Look-A-Like Contest will be held at 2 p.m. and the Puttin' on the Dog-Best Dressed Dog contest will follow at 2:30 p.m. The Cutest Dog Contest begins at 3 p.m. and the So Ugly I'm Adorable contest starts at 3:30 p.m. All contests will be held inside the Amphitheatre in front of the stage.

Owners can get their dogs bathed at the Petsafe dog wash station. Donations for each wash will be accepted.
