Office seeks suspension of Martinsburg lawyer's license
Advertiser

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A disciplinary body is asking the West Virginia Supreme Court to suspend the law license of a Martinsburg lawyer convicted on firearms charges.

The Journal reports that the court's Office of Disciplinary Counsel filed a petition last month requesting a suspension of Michael Shawn Santa Barbara's law license for at least two years.

Santa Barbara was accused of threatening a group of partygoers with a gun at a boat dock near his home.

Santa Barbara pleaded no contest in April to misdemeanor charges of brandishing and carrying a concealed and deadly weapon without a permit. He received a suspended sentence in lieu of community service and a $500 fine.
